Ashecliffe

So, rumor has it there is a new Scorsese/DiCaprio flick coming to town in March and the auditions are taking place now. In fact, I know someone who had an audition yesterday. The movie seems to have two working titles right now: Shutter Island (as in the Dennis Lehane novel) and Ashecliffe (as in the name of the institution in the Dennis Lehane novel). Since this is a "period" piece, I am hoping that I'll be called in to audition for some role because I have the right look and naturally-colored hair. However, who knows what the parts are?! (Answer: only the screenwriter, the director and the casting director.) So, at this point, all I can do is wait.

Best of Luck on getting the audition. I know CP Casting is the one who has the contract for principal casting, so put your efforts in that direction. Very nice blog! I am also a new england actor who blogs. I hope some day we meet on the set!

Kind Regards,

I haven't read Shutter Island, but going by what I've heard from others, this movie is bound to be pretty intense. But anyways, I'm a fifteen year old girl trying very hard to break into film acting. I am from New England also, CT to be precise, and have a local agent. But after paying for manditory lessons, months of taking those lessons, and leeway time between getting headshots done and all that, I still haven't recieved much information from the agency regarding auditions and actual jobs. I am usually optimistic, but am beginning to get frustrated and discouraged. So, any advice you could give me would be highly appreciated. Get back to me if you have time, thank you and good luck!

I went to the casting call in Boston on Sat. How long after casting calls do they normally start calling people? I'm new to this and it was my 1st casting call. I don't want to be waiting on pins and needles for a whole month if they usually call back 1-3 weeks after the call. Just curious and excited. Thanks for your answers...

Hey PBrods,

Welcome to the Extras world. You probably heard the lecture they gave before they took your photo. Filming starts on March 6, so you can expect a call a few days before that or anytime until they finish shooting on June 30. It all depends on what the shooting schedule is like and what type of characters, extras are needed.

We had a call-back exactly seven days after the initial audition. (The call back date was last Saturday, the 26th). It was for a small speaking role. Don't they usually call back the successful ones very soon after the call back? If you have any ideas, please post because (Like PBRODS said) it is so hard to wait...LOL
